Larry Page Bio (Education)

On March 26, 1973, Lawrence Edward Page was born to Carl Victor Page and Gloria Page in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. Carl and his wife Gloria were both computer experts; while the former has a Ph.D. He graduated from the University of Michigan and was a renowned pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Google founder Larry Page taught computer programming at Lemon Briggs College and Michigan State University. So it is not surprising that their child went after them.

As a child, Larry Page grew up surrounded by...computer and science and technology magazines, investing time in them to deepen and absorb whatever knowledge he could find in them. His older brother Carl Page taught him how to take things apart and put them back together and this piqued his technical curiosity even more as he began taking apart most of the items in their house to see how they worked, after which he puts them back together and putting them back together would always work as before if not better.

As a curious and creative child, the conventional school system could not have done the best for Larry. This probably explained why his parents enrolled him in a school that encouraged student independence and creativity. Larry studied at the Montessori Radmoor in Okemos, Michigan and was previously called the Okemos Montessori School. Page was there from 1975 until he graduated in 1979 before going to East Lansing High School, where he graduated in 1991.

When he was a high school student, Larry Page spent two summers as a saxophonist at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He credits his music training to "Google's high-speed legacy" that awareness of playing the right note in a musical performance at the right time and duration helped strengthen his sense of speed in computation.

After his stint in high school, Larry Page enrolled at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering in 1995. He then immediately enrolled in his PhD. Larry Page completed his Ph.D. at Stanford University. proficiency tests. In 1995 while doing his Ph.D. at Stanford. Larry Page met colleague Sergey Brin on a project nicknamed "BackRub" to understand the mathematical properties of the World Wide Web. With his research and his findings, the work "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine" was born, which focused entirely on the ranking of web pages based on citations in academic publishing. 

These academic works at the time were roughly 10 million documents with an inexplicable number of links between them. Over time, and with further research into BackRub's development, BackRub's web crawler, the PageRank algorithm, was created, a machine lab was set up in Page's dorm room, and Brin's room was converted into an office and programming center. BackRub gradually became Google.

With the support of friends, family, and faculty members, Sergey Brin and Larry Page incorporated Google in 1998 under the domain name Googol. While Page appointed himself CEO of the newly formed company, Brin served as Google's president. 

Larry Page was the first CEO of Google's founding until 2001, when he retired from Eric Schmidt to take over the mantle of leadership. In April 2011, Larry again resigned from his position and in July 2015 resigned as CEO of Alphabet, a multinational conglomerate and parent company of Google, which is also involved in various industries such as technology, finance, research and life sciences.
